A dripping faucet can be caused by a damaged seal inside the faucet. The seals are usually made of rubber or plastic and can become aged, worn or deformed after prolonged use. This is when the seals need to be replaced.
1, the faucet is generally a pressed faucet, I will press the faucet as an example, a simple introduction to the faucet leakage repair method, first prepare the tools, there are hand pliers, screwdrivers, penetration lubricants, activity wrenches, and its to be replaced by the washer and so on.
2, close the water inlet valve
(1) first remove the small screws in the faucet handle above, or behind, well remove the handle fixed in the main body of the faucet, some screws hidden in the metal buttons, plastic buttons, or plastic pieces below, these buttons, or plastic pieces stuck into or screwed into the handle.
(2) Just open the button, you will see the handle screws mounted on the top, if necessary, use some penetrating lubricant like WD-40 specification to make the screws loose and easy to remove.
3,Remove the handle
(1) Use large carp pliers, or adjustable wrench to remove the caulking nut, do not leave scratches on the metal to avoid accelerated oxidation, rotate the spool, or shaft in the same direction as it was rotated when the faucet was opened in order to unscrew them.
(2) Check the components of the faucet, remove the screws that hold the washers in place, and if necessary, use penetrating lubricant to loosen the screws. When checking the screws and spool, replace them with new ones once they are damaged.
4,Replace the washer
(1)Replace the old washer with an identical new washer that matches the old one almost exactly, which generally allows the faucet to stop dripping, but also note the old washer, whether it has a beveled surface or is flat, and replace it with the same new washer.
(2) washers designed for cold water only, when there is hot water flowing through, it will expand dramatically thus clogging the spout and slowing down the flow of hot water; some washers work in hot and cold water, but make sure that the washer you buy is the same as the original washer.
5,Installation of faucet parts
Fix the new washer to the spool, re-install the parts in the faucet, rotate the spool in a clockwise direction, wait for the spool to be in place, re-install the caulking nut, don't let the wrench leave scratches on the metal.
6,Drain test
Reinstall the handle, and put the button or disk back; to determine that there is no problem, turn on the water supply, check whether there is still water, a can be repaired.
In addition, the cause of water dripping from the faucet may also be due to damage to the valve core of the faucet. The spool is a key component in controlling the flow of water, and it will be worn out or clogged after a long time of use. This is when the spool needs to be replaced.
