What is the difference between a braided hose and a corrugated hose?
Aug 10, 2023
Corrugated hose is used for the transmission of high temperature liquid and gas. Braided hose mainly plays a role in connecting the angle valve at the water inlet with basin faucet, kitchen faucet, vertical bathtub faucet, water heater, central air conditioner, and toilet.
I. Introduction to Corrugated hoses and braided hose
1. Corrugated hose
Used for the transmission of high temperature liquid and gas. Such as water heater's inlet pipe, gas transmission pipe, faucet's inlet pipe, and so on. For areas with poor water quality, the water heater connection pipe can be prioritized to choose the corrugated pipe, the use of time is longer.
Advantages of stainless steel corrugated hoses: corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance for heating pipes. Large pipe diameter equals large water flow.
Disadvantages of stainless steel corrugated hoses: installation must be kept vertical with the joints, otherwise it is easy to lead to water leakage. It is not easy to bend the corrugated pipe in the same part for many times, otherwise it will cause the wall of corrugated pipe to break.
2. Braided hose
Braided hose is a stainless steel hose or hose outside the braided layer of stainless steel wire after the product, mainly used for electrical wiring protection and household faucets, toilets, showers and other pipe connectors.
II. The difference between braided hose and corrugated hoses
1. Components are not the same
Stainless steel braided hose: wire, inner tube, steel sleeve, core, gasket, nut
Bellows: hexagonal cap, tube, gasket, plastic sleeve
2. The role is not the same
Braided tube: mainly play a role in the water inlet at the corner valve and basin faucet, kitchen faucet, vertical bathtub faucet, water heater, central air conditioning, toilet connection, the formation of water supply channels or drainpipes
Corrugated pipe: used for the transmission of high temperature liquid and gas. Such as water heater intake pipe, gas transmission pipe, faucet intake pipe and so on. For areas with poor water quality, the connection pipe of water heater can be prioritized to choose corrugated pipe, which can be used for a longer time.
3. Different production methods and performance
Stainless steel braided hose: 6 strands of 304 stainless steel wire compiled from the whole tube, the flexibility of the tube is relatively good, storm-proof effect is good, but compared to the corrugated pipe, the diameter is smaller, the water flow is small.
Stainless steel corrugated hose: the body of the pipe presents an uneven shape, there is only an outer pipe, no inner pipe, the body of the pipe is harder, the installation should pay special attention to, it is best to choose the vertical installation, can not be in the same place for many times bending, so as to avoid water leakage and rupture.
4. Advantages of each
Advantages of stainless steel corrugated hoses: corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance for heating pipes. Large pipe diameter is equal to large water flow.
Disadvantages of stainless steel corrugated hoses: installation must be kept vertical with the joints, and vice versa, easily lead to water leakage. It is not easy to bend the corrugated pipe in the same part many times, otherwise it will cause the corrugated pipe wall to break. Secondly, it is expensive.
Advantages of stainless steel braided pipe: the internal connecting pipe and connecting part of the gasket are made of EPDM high-quality rubber. Non-toxic, anti-aging, anti-ozone, anti-erosion, cold, high temperature, high pressure, excellent sealing. Secondly inexpensive.
The disadvantages of stainless steel braided pipe are: complex process, high temperature strength is worse than corrugated pipe.
